BOUND WISCONSIN WEEK 2 FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
Drake Petersen, Saint Croix Falls
In an incredible game between excellent small-school teams, Saint Croix Falls rallied for a 35-30 win over Grantsburg in the final minute. Playing with a lot on his mind as his father was in the hospital, senior Drake Petersen caught 11 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns. His impact didn’t stop there, forcing and recovering a fumble. He also had an interception and broke up a pair of passes, one on a key fourth down and one on the final Hail Mary attempt of the game. Petersen punted once for 36 yards and had a two-point conversion as well.
Logan Pierce, Luther
Luther was all over Bangor on Friday night, winning 40-6. Senior Logan Pierce showed off his versatility by impacting the game in all three phases. He ran for 150 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries. Over on defense, he led the team with 12 tackles, including a tackle for loss, also recovering a fumble and recording an interception that was returned for a score. Pierce also returned a punt for a touchdown in the win.
Matthew Wickersham, Evansville
Evansville moved to 2-0 with a 41-6 win over Brodhead/Juda. Senior Matthew Wickersham was outstanding for the Blue Devils. He completed seven-of-12 passes for 112 yards and four touchdowns. Wickersham added 41 yards and a touchdown on six carries as well. Over on defense he recorded an interception and a tackle.
Austyn Wittek, New Richmond
New Richmond ran away from Stevens Point 48-14 Thursday night. Senior All-State running back Austyn Wittek proved why he’s an NDSU commit, carrying the ball 14 times for 168 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught four passes for 113 yards and two scores, adding a two-point conversion.
Tyler Wollin, Lake Mills
After getting shutout in Week 1, Lake Mills responded in a big way, defeating McFarland 66-38 on Friday night. Senior quarterback Tyler Wollin returned to his All-State ways, completing 13-of-22 passes for 300 yards and five touchdowns, as he averaged more than 23 yards per completion.
Travis Wilson serves as the Bound Wisconsin Manager. Wilson was selected as part of the Sports 40 Under 40 list by Coach & AD Magazine and the National High School Athletic Coaches Association for 2019. The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) named Travis the 2015 recipient of the Dave McClain Distinguished Service Award. He currently serves on the WFCA Executive Board and is a member of the Executive Board of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. A graduate of Richland Center High School and Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Travis was a three-sport athlete in high school (football, baseball, basketball), inducted to the Richland Center High School Hall of Fame in 2023, and currently resides in Reedsburg.
